I joined Area Operation Manager, Michael Daly at William Hill in Gilmerton to discuss measures they are taking to ensure responsible gambling.
Fixed odds betting terminals are obviously a huge political issue at the moment and I appreciate Michael and the team taking the time to go over the procedures and intervention strategies they have put in place to make sure people are gambling responsibly.
The recently enacted Scotland Bill devolved the powers from Westminster so that the ability to vary the number of FOBTs on new betting premises and the level of bet now lie in Scotland.
As part of my visit I also placed a £50 charity bet on Belgium to win Euro 2016. All proceeds would have been donated to the fantastic Marie Curie Hospice here in Edinburgh South. Maybe better luck next time.
Thanks to staff for showing me around and for the free charity bet.
