Due to ongoing flood prevention works at Moredunvale Road, parts of Craigour have been without bus provision for well over a year.
Having spoken to many residents I know people are rightly frustrated that the works have taken so long to complete and the impact this is having on bus services in the area, particularly the No.8. Older residents and people with mobility issues are having real difficulties getting to the nearest bus stop and are therefore feeling cut off from the shops, doctors surgery, and friends and family.
The flood prevention works were required as part of the planning application for the new Sick Kids hospital. More information on the defences can be found on the Council's planning portal using reference: 14/01810/FUL
I am calling on all parties including NHS Lothian, the contractors and the Council to come together and provide transportation to residents who have mobility issues and are unable to walk the distance to the nearest bus top on Old Dalkeith Road.
Sign this petition to say you think NHS Lothian should provide transport to residents who have been without a bus for the duration of the flood prevention works.
